Talascend is currently seeking an HVAC Maintenance Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Syracuse, New York.

Overview

The role involves performing preventive and repair work on facility mechanical, electrical, and related systems, maintaining and repairing HVAC equipment, and ensuring safety and compliance across multiple sites primarily in a commercial environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ongoing preventive and repair response work orders on facility mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems, equipment, and components.
  • Maintain, operate, and repair all HVAC systems and associated equipment, electrical distribution equipment, plumbing systems, and building interior/exterior elements.
  • Conduct facility inspections and report conditions affecting client occupancy and operations.
  • Respond effectively to emergency situations.
  • Prepare and submit summary reports outlining conditions found and recommended actions.
  • Become familiar with equipment and methods required for daily activities, including building automation and fire/life safety systems.
  • Comply with all safety procedures, maintain good housekeeping, and eliminate hazards.
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant local ordinances, codes, and laws.
  • Support after-hours building activities as needed.
  • Attend periodic training seminars and perform other operational tasks typical of the mobile technician role.
  • Utilize provided tools to perform assigned work scope.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of four (4) years of technical experience in building engineering, with a focus on HVAC, plumbing, and electrical equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Universal EPA 608 Certification.
  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs. and climb ladders up to 30 ft.
  • Willingness to perform on-call duties and overtime as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of overall MEP/HVAC system design and application.
  • Experience managing work orders using CMMS technology.
  • Experience working in a service-related role within commercial facilities.
