Talascend is currently seeking an Electrical Harness Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Allen Park, Michigan.

Overview

The Electrical Harness Technician will be responsible for building, reworking, testing, repairing, and installing wiring harnesses on vehicles and on the bench, following blueprints, schematics, and work instructions. The role involves collaborating with team members to ensure quality and safety standards are met.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, perform functional and safety tests, and reverse engineer wiring using hand tools and proper techniques by following work instructions.
  • Install lights, brackets, and electrical hardware on test boxes, automotive components, and vehicles according to specifications.
  • Test wiring and components for correct operation using schematics and diagnostic equipment.
  • Perform wiring reworks and repairs on bench and vehicle, crimp and solder, de-pin terminals, create basic schematics, and reverse engineer harnesses.
  • Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventative maintenance, and calling for repairs.
  • Participate in daily shop organization and clean-up.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 4 years of electrical work experience
  • Ability to perform crimping and soldering of wires, and understand electrical schematics
  • Proficient with hand and power tools and able to operate vehicle lifts
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of MS Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Able to work overtime and weekends

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate in Automotive Electrical Technology or related
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Experience installing components on circuit boards
  • Experience with automotive powertrain systems or electric battery systems
  • Broad knowledge of vehicle systems and related components, materials, and fasteners
