Analytics Project Manager
Talascend is currently seeking an Analytics Project Manager for a contract opportunity with our client in Newark, New Jersey.
Overview
This role involves supporting large information technology projects within the utility sector, focusing on project execution, delivery, and managing complex, large-scale initiatives to meet organizational goals. The ideal candidate will oversee project planning, coordination, and monitoring, ensuring adherence to budget and risk management standards while engaging multiple stakeholders and vendors.
Responsibilities
- Direct project team personnel, manage cost and schedule, ensure contract compliance, and serve as customer interface
- Manage technical, cost, and schedule of assigned tasks or functions
- Provide strong, proactive, and assertive leadership skills to engage multidiscipline work teams
- Lead project team members such as executives, subject matter experts, controllers, and schedulers through the project lifecycle
- Manage project teams that typically include multiple vendors with onshore and offshore resources
- Create project management plans, set expectations, and execute governance reviews
- Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders to develop project scope, objectives, goals, and deliverables
- Ensure requirements are gathered, documented, reviewed, and approved per organizational standards
- Work with schedulers to create work breakdown structures for project activities
- Manage project budget, maintain financial plans, track actuals versus plans, provide forecasts, and report monthly accruals
- Establish and deliver high-quality project communications, including status reports and dashboards
- Actively monitor, track, and manage project tasks, timelines, milestones, and overall quality of activities and deliverables
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, information technology, computer science, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience as a project manager, with experience managing analytics projects
- Experience handling project financials, schedules, scope, and testing
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Solid understanding of project management processes and procedures
- Ability to build and maintain relationships and external networks
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision
- Excellent customer-facing skills, decision-making, and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Smartsheet, or similar project management tools
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection guidelines
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP or equivalent credential is preferred
- Previous project management experience in the utility sector is a plus
