Plant System Analysis Engineer-Remote
Talascend is currently seeking a Remote Plant System Analysis Engineer for a remote contract opportunity with our client.
Overview
This role involves performing analyses related to sodium-cooled reactor systems, including the development of models, control strategies, and transient analysis to support design and operational safety in nuclear power applications.
Responsibilities
- Develop RELAP5-3D models for steady state and transient hydraulic analyses.
- Develop plant level control strategies and component level controllers.
- Perform calculations using heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics principles to support analysis results.
- Analyze reactor normal operations, upset events, emergency events, and faulted events to establish design and testing limits.
- Perform analysis of plant-wide transients for operational evaluations and design solutions.
- Conduct multiscale and multidisciplinary control analyses involving various thermal fluids.
- Collaborate with engineering groups on component, system, fuel, and control system design and testing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in nuclear, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
- Experience with system codes such as RELAP5 or TRACE is required.
- Experience with modeling control systems and I&C is highly desirable.
- Experience with nuclear power plant design or operations is desirable.
- Experience in developing new analytical methods is desirable.
- Strong thermal-hydraulic analytical skills with expertise in one-dimensional hydraulic network analysis, system codes, and transient analysis.
- Strong technical writing skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
