Talascend is currently seeking a Material Control Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Livonia, Michigan.

Overview

The Material Control Technician II is responsible for picking automotive parts, preparing them for movement to the shop floor, processing material moves in an ERP system, and providing support for freight handling within the warehouse environment. The role requires attention to detail, reliability, and a strong background in automotive material control, including experience with inventory management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Picking and preparing automotive parts for shipment or use on the shop floor.
  • Processing and recording material moves using an ERP system.
  • Managing inventory transactions accurately within the system.
  • Driving a Hi-Lo and providing training in internal certifications.
  • Supporting freight movement in and out of trucks and around the warehouse.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Performing cycle counts and inventory management tasks.
  • Assisting with receiving and distributing parts within the warehouse or production area.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of material control experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing inventory and conducting transactions using a computer.
  • Ability to drive a Hi-Lo and pass internal training.
  • Experience recording and tracking inventory in an ERP system.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and data entry skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Accurate experience with cycle counting and inventory management.
  • Prior experience with receiving and distributing parts in a warehouse or production setting.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good housekeeping skills to keep the work area clean and safe.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Experience using Peoplesoft or similar ERP systems.
