Drafting Technician
Talascend is currently seeking a Drafting Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Houston, Texas.
Overview
This role involves completing layouts, drawing, and revising detailed part, assembly, and installation engineering drawings using computer-aided design equipment and graphic tools such as CAD, CAM or CATIA. The technician will work on standard and complex engineering drawings to support manufacturing and design improvements.
Responsibilities
- Complete layouts, drawing, and revisions of detailed parts, assemblies, and installation diagrams.
- Determine scaling, insert reference planes, center and dimension lines, and prepare section views following standard engineering practices.
- Prepare specifications for parts, assemblies, and installations.
- Develop complete production detail drawings.
- Contribute design modifications to enhance product quality or manufacturing efficiency.
- Work on routine tasks with some deviation from standard practice under moderate supervision.
- Verify and make minor adjustments to work methods to resolve routine problems.
- Communicate with colleagues within the project/work area to provide or gather information requiring explanation or interpretation.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1 to 3 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency with CAD, CAM, or CATIA software.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawing standards and practices.
