Facilities Maintenance Technician
Talascend is currently seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Nashville, Tennessee.
Overview
The main function of a facilities maintenance technician is to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment across multiple systems on various properties. The role requires technical expertise in at least one craft area, such as electrical, HVAC, piping/plumbing, or central utility plant operations, and the ability to be multi-skilled across other areas.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and monitor repairs of mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems to ensure they meet standards.
- Travel between multiple facilities to ensure their proper functioning.
- Maintain responsibility for facility services, preventative maintenance, purchasing, inventory control, contracted maintenance, general upkeep, and technical proficiency.
- Maintain equipment by cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and replacing parts to optimize HVAC system performance.
- Record readings and make adjustments to ensure proper operation of equipment.
- Follow departmental policies for safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials; maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Perform periodic checks of tools and instrument inventory.
- Monitor the quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors.
- Comply with all safety procedures and maintain good housekeeping and safety in work areas; recognize hazards and propose elimination methods.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2-4 years of experience maintaining and repairing commercial building systems.
- Ability to analyze the operation of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, identify issues, and implement corrective actions.
- EPA 608 Type II Certification.
- Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel.
- Valid driver’s license.
- A professional engineer (P.Eng) license is not required.
Preferred Qualifications
- EPA 608 Universal Certification.
- Two years of trades schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration, and HVAC.
