Mobile Maintenance Engineer
Talascend is currently seeking a Mobile Maintenance Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Springfield, Illinois.
Overview
The main function of a mobile maintenance engineer is to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment across multiple facilities. The role requires technical expertise in one craft area and the ability to be multi-skilled in others.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, monitoring, and repairs to mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems for the facility to keep building systems up to applicable standards as assigned.
- Travel between multiple facilities while ensuring their proper function.
- Maintain responsibility for facility services, preventative maintenance, purchasing and inventory control, contracted maintenance, general maintenance, and technical proficiency.
- Clean, inspect, calibrate, and change parts to maintain HVAC systems and associated equipment at optimum performance levels.
- Record readings and make adjustments where necessary to ensure proper operation of equipment.
- Comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials; maintain a clean and safe workplace.
- Perform periodic checks of tool and instrument inventory.
- Monitor the quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors.
- Comply with all safety procedures, maintaining good housekeeping and safety of work areas, recognizing danger and safety hazards, and proposing methods to eliminate them.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 5-7 years of experience required.
- Experience maintaining and repairing commercial building systems.
- Ability to analyze the operation of various commercial or industrial mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, determine the cause of problems or malfunctions, and take corrective action.
- EPA 608 Type II certification.
- Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel.
- Valid driver’s license.
- A professional engineer (P.Eng) license is not required for this role.
Preferred Qualifications
- EPA 608 universal certification.
- Two years of trades schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration, and HVAC.
Shift
Hours are 8am to 5pm in south central IL (Peoria–Springfield).
