Talascend is currently seeking a Facilities Maintenance Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Cleveland, Ohio.

Overview

The main function of a facilities maintenance engineer is to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment across multiple systems and locations. Individuals should demonstrate technical expertise in one craft area such as Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, or Central Utility Plant Operations, while being multi-skilled in others.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, monitoring, and repairs to the mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems for the facility to ensure adherence to applicable standards.
  • Travel between multiple facilities to ensure their proper function.
  • Maintain responsibility for facility services, preventative maintenance, purchasing and inventory control, contracted maintenance, general maintenance, and technical proficiency.
  • Maintain equipment by cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and replacing parts to optimize HVAC systems and associated equipment performance.
  • Record readings and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper operation of equipment.
  • Comply with departmental policies for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials; maintain a clean and safe workplace.
  • Perform periodic checks of tool and instrument inventory.
  • Monitor the quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors.
  • Follow all safety procedures, maintain good housekeeping, and recognize hazards, proposing methods to eliminate them.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-4 years of experience maintaining and repairing commercial building systems.
  • Ability to analyze the operation of various commercial or industrial mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, identify problems, and take corrective actions.
  • EPA 608 Type II certification.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
