Talascend is currently seeking a Auto Body Painter for a contract opportunity with our client in Allen Park, Michigan.

Overview

The auto body painter will be responsible for surfacing prototype automotive components and vehicles, working with various materials, and maintaining high-quality standards for painted parts. The role involves operating industrial equipment and tools, adheres to safety regulations, and requires attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Surfacing prototype automotive components and vehicles
  • Working with a variety of materials to meet customer needs
  • Paying close attention to details and procedures to ensure quality standards
  • Reading hazard labels and complying with safety rules and regulations
  • Distinguishing colors
  • Using industrial pneumatic equipment and manual and power tools
  • Working in a physically demanding environment, often in cramped and wet conditions
  • Wearing protective clothing and equipment daily
  • Traveling between buildings as needed
  • Being available for overtime and weekend work when required

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the auto body and paint field
  • Own tools and rolling lockable toolbox
  • Strong attention to detail as an auto body and paint technician
  • Willingness to travel between locations
  • Availability to work overtime and on weekends
  • Self-starter and self-motivated
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to lift at least 60 pounds without assistance
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
  • Ability to wear protective gear and work safely around hazardous materials and equipment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Gap and margin experience with automotive panels for show car quality
  • Body shop skills for detailed panel surfacing
  • Show car painting experience
