Talascend is currently seeking an Senior Industrial Hygiene Specialist for a contract opportunity with our client in Winnemucca, Nevada.

Overview

This role involves integrating industrial hygiene requirements into project planning, design, construction, and operations, ensuring compliance with safety and health standards on a large-scale lithium resource project.

Responsibilities

  • Help integrate industrial hygiene requirements into project planning, design, construction, and operations
  • Interpret requirements and provide technical assistance within ES&H teams and to other project groups regarding risk assessment, plan preparation, industrial hygiene requirements, and ES&H program execution
  • Research issues and regulatory requirements and prepare documentation and reports
  • Provide technical guidance for industrial hygiene studies, risk and hazard assessments, and other safety and health reviews
  • Assist in the development and implementation of routine industrial hygiene activities, including the project Safety and Health Management Plan and associated industrial hygiene plans, procedures, methods, and training
  • Participate in emergency response and aid the investigation and resolution of health-related incidents
  • Help identify stakeholders and resolve their concerns
  • Provide industrial hygiene input to engineering, construction, commissioning and startup, subcontracts, operations, and other project groups to ensure requirements are integrated properly
  • Participate in meetings with customers, project team members, and contractors/subcontractors to advise on industrial hygiene requirements
  • Conduct inspections, sampling, and monitoring to evaluate ES&H performance, identify corrective actions, and confirm compliance
  • Help track ES&H performance and trends, prepare reports, and manage data in the Industrial Hygiene Records System (IHRS)
  • Support ES&H team members and related tasks across all disciplines

Qualifications

  • Master of Science degree (or equivalent) related to industrial hygiene or a recognized scientific field with 6+ years of relevant experience; or Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent) related to industrial hygiene with 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Ability to research and comprehend organizational and regulatory requirements
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with diverse stakeholders
  • Technical writing and analytical skills
  • Understanding of ES&H Management Systems
  • Ability to integrate environmental, safety, and health factors into program execution
  • Computer skills for preparing presentations, data management, and report writing
  • Analytical skills related to environmental sampling and monitoring
  • Ability to work outdoors in a field environment under various weather and site conditions
  • Support for multiple work shifts as needed
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Certified Industrial Hygiene (or equivalent Certified Safety Professional) through a recognized organization, with sufficient courses in industrial hygiene and senior supervisory experience in industrial hygiene
