ServiceNow CMDB Specialist
Talascend is currently seeking a ServiceNow CMDB Specialist for a remote, contract opportunity with our client.
Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced ServiceNow CMDB specialist for a temporary 6-month position. The role involves managing, maintaining, and optimizing the CMDB within the ServiceNow platform to support organizational operations during a critical project period.
Responsibilities
- Implement, configure, and maintain the ServiceNow CMDB to ensure data accuracy and integrity, collaborating with infrastructure and platform teams
- Develop and enforce CMDB policies, standards, and procedures, and perform regular audits and reconciliation of data
- Set up discovery schedules, probes, sensors, and manage mid-servers and credentials in ServiceNow
- Manage CI classes, create relationships within the CMDB, and align with the Common Services Data Model (CSDM)
- Apply knowledge of network fundamentals, operating systems, and compute environments to support discovery and CMDB accuracy
- Utilize scripting skills (PowerShell, JavaScript, Python) to automate processes and enhance CMDB functionality
- Collaborate with IT teams, business units, and external vendors to ensure CMDB support organizational goals
- Develop dashboards and reports to monitor CMDB data and performance, including maintaining the CMDB Health Dashboard
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with ServiceNow CMDB
- Proven experience with ITSM processes including incident, problem, change, and asset management
- Hands-on experience with ServiceNow Discovery, Service Mapping, and integrations
- Skills in setting up schedules, probes, sensors, and managing credentials within ServiceNow Discovery
- Knowledge of CI classes, relationships, and CMDB structure aligned with CSDM
- Understanding of network protocols, IP addressing, firewalls, and ports
- Experience with Windows/Linux administration, DNS, DHCP, AD, and service accounts
- Basic scripting knowledge in PowerShell, JavaScript, or Python
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ITIL frameworks and processes
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and hybrid environments
- Knowledge of data governance and compliance standards
- Experience with ManageEngine OpManager, Microsoft SCCM, or other data integration sources
