Engineering Process & Quality Engineer
Talascend is currently seeking an Engineering Process & Quality Engineer to support laboratory test operations with a Tier 1 supplier in Plymouth, MI. The role is initially onsite to ensure full acclimation to the team, environment, and processes, and will transition to a hybrid schedule.
This is a process-focused engineering role inside a test operations environment where you’ll be responsible for the development of consistent test workflows through SOPs, work instructions, and process improvements, working closely with engineering and lab teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain SOPs and work instructions supporting test operations
- Improve and standardize engine installation and test preparation workflows
- Ensure consistent execution of established test procedures across teams
- Identify and implement process improvements to reduce cycle time and improve workflow efficiency
- Support quality system documentation and compliance requirements
- Assist with audit readiness and continuous improvement initiatives
- Work closely with engineers and technicians to resolve workflow inconsistencies and improve day-to-day execution
- Support implementation and enforcement of established processes, procedures, and operational standards
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities related to testing processes and workflow issues
- Help improve operational consistency and data quality across test operations
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and lab personnel to support efficient workflow execution
Ideal Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required
- Experience in manufacturing, lab, or engineering process environments
- Experience writing procedures, work instructions, or technical documentation
- Background in process improvement, quality systems, or engineering support roles
- Automotive or industrial engineering experience preferred
Preferred Experience
- Exposure to ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or similar quality systems
- Experience improving workflows, reducing cycle time, or standardizing processes
- Familiarity with structured engineering environments working cross-functionally with technicians and engineers
- Experience supporting audit readiness or compliance initiatives
- Lab, test operations, or engineering support experience (no requirement for hands-on test equipment operation)
- Familiarity with root cause analysis, corrective actions, or continuous improvement methodologies
