Talascend is currently seeking an Automotive Mechanic for a contract opportunity with our client in Livonia, Michigan.

Overview

  • The automotive mechanic II will perform tasks related to vehicle components removal, modification, installation, and functional testing in a production environment. The role involves collaborating with team members and following detailed work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble, modify, and install components as per provided work instructions or leader instructions.
  • Remove and reinstall mechanical and electrical system components and perform minor body fabrication using supplied fixtures and templates.
  • Read, interpret, and follow assembly work instructions.
  • Maintain all required assembly documentation including component serial numbers and torque specifications.
  • Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
  • Participate in daily shop organization and clean-up.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 4 years of work experience as a mechanic.
  • Knowledge of mechanical assembly and ability to operate shop equipment.
  • Good attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Own tools with rolling toolbox and ability to work overtime and weekends.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and execute written procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate in automotive technology or related field.
  • National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification(s).
  • State mechanic certification(s).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of vehicle electronics, A.C. systems, cooling systems, and general repairs.
