Talascend is currently seeking a Maintenance Supervisor for a contract opportunity with our client in Bay City, Michigan.

Overview

The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee a team responsible for troubleshooting and repairing complex equipment within a manufacturing environment, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency standards are met. This role involves supervising skilled employees, managing workflow, and collaborating across teams to support production goals.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a group of skilled employees in troubleshooting and repairing complex equipment and processes.
  • Ensure adherence to national and local agreements between the organization and the union.
  • Use independent judgment within manufacturing systems, focusing on safety, people, quality, responsiveness, cost, and environment.
  • Collaborate with labor, technical, and engineering teams to optimize service procedures and labor studies.
  • Review electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic blueprints to facilitate repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Support labor time studies and special projects related to manufacturing processes.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, adapting to changing priorities and ambiguous situations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications preferred.
  • At least 1 year of direct supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing or automotive environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to respond to production issues promptly.
  • Proficiency in reading electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic blueprints.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and second or third shifts.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under ambiguous conditions with a high level of integrity and self-direction.
  • Experience with unionized work environments is desirable.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Previous exposure to labor time studies and process optimization.
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams effectively.
