Oracle Utilities WAMS Specialist
Talascend is currently seeking an Oracle Utilities WAMS Specialist for a contract opportunity with our client in Seattle, Washington.
Overview
This role involves supporting enhancements, maintenance, and data operations within the Oracle Utilities Work and Asset Management environment, with a focus on backend development, data integration, and cloud migration for a utility client.
Responsibilities
- Support and maintain backend processes within Oracle Utilities WAMS v1.9x
- Develop and document reusable data extraction, transformation, and integration patterns
- Ensure data design supports operational needs, audit controls, and performance
- Support ingestion of datasets into Oracle Autonomous Database
- Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and data correction across WAMS components
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical logic
- Document workflows related to work orders, labor, materials, and assets within WAMS
- Map WAMS data structures for reporting and cloud ingestion
- Develop SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts for backend support
- Build and maintain Unix Shell scripts for automation and secure file transfers
- Support migration of file-transfer processes to Oracle Cloud Object Storage
- Create mechanisms for updating WAMS with integration feedback and reconciliation statuses
- Support system integration testing, validation, and production readiness activities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, information technology, computer science, or related field
- 5+ years hands-on experience with Oracle Utilities WAM (preferably v1.9x)
- Strong backend development skills including SQL, data extraction, and ETL workflows
- Proficiency in Shell scripting, Unix/Linux environments, and secure file-transfer processes (SFTP)
- Experience supporting or migrating file-based integrations to Oracle Cloud Object Storage
- Strong understanding of relational database structures and enterprise data patterns
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in utility operations or asset management environments
- Familiarity with transitioning legacy processing pipelines to cloud-native approaches
- Experience within regulated or municipal utility organizations
- Background in large-scale data automation or backend pipeline development
