Operations Training Instructor
Talascend is currently seeking an Operations Training Instructor for a contract opportunity with our client in Kemmerer, Wyoming.
Overview
The role involves developing and managing training programs and materials for operations at a nuclear power plant, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and facilitating effective training for licensed and non-licensed operators.
Responsibilities
- Develops operator training processes, programs, and procedures in compliance with company standards, NRC regulations, and accreditation criteria
- Creates and executes strategies for training program initial accreditation
- Uses the systematic approach to develop high-quality training curricula for licensed and non-licensed operators
- Revises training programs based on plant design changes, modifications, and regulatory updates
- Participates in the training curriculum review process and coordinates with various departments and external organizations
- Prepares trainee examination materials and evaluations for different training environments
- Develops processes for training performance evaluations and individualized training plans
- Incorporates relevant operational reports, regulatory notices, and plant updates into training materials
- Participates in audits and prepares responses to audit findings
- Maintains knowledge of plant design, operations, and disciplinary skills necessary for effective training development
- Supervises the collection and maintenance of auditable training records and reports
- Assists in establishing department goals and managing budgets for training activities
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in science or engineering
- 4 years of commercial nuclear power plant operator training experience
- 2 years of experience as a simulator instructor
- Previous SRO/RO license holder or 4+ years of experience with an SRO certification
- Mastery of skills and extensive subject matter knowledge related to licensed operator training
- Working knowledge of plant simulation software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills
- Attention to detail and passion for training excellence
- High level of trust and integrity, with strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to adapt to changes related to plant design, procedures, and project schedule
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with NRC Circulars, Bulletins, and Information Notices
- Knowledge of plant safety and operational procedures
