Nuclear Procedures Specialist
Talascend is currently seeking an Nuclear Procedures Specialist for a remote, contract opportunity with our client.
Overview
The role involves developing and maintaining administrative procedures related to nuclear plant programs, providing guidance to procedure developers, and supporting regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will lead teams and coordinate with various departments and external organizations to ensure high-quality procedure development in a nuclear power environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute plans for creating, organizing, and tracking engineering procedures
- Develop and maintain standards for implementing and streamlining engineering processes and procedures
- Coordinate with other departments for cross-discipline procedure reviews
- Support software development and testing for procedures management programs
- Develop and maintain knowledge of plant design, operations, and techniques
- Create and revise procedures and support software tools for electronic procedures and workflows
- Identify opportunities to streamline programs and implement process improvements
- Lead efforts to develop and track site administrative procedures and programs
- Support personnel selection and coordinate activities of procedure writers and program owners
- Ensure procedures meet industry standards and regulatory requirements to minimize safety risks
- Provide training and mentorship on procedure development standards
- Engage with industry peers, vendors, and regulatory bodies to find innovative solutions
- Manage regulatory reviews and ensure compliance with NRC and other agencies
- Maintain auditable records of procedure development and revisions
- Contribute to department goal setting and budgeting activities
- Perform additional tasks supporting site procedure schedules and objectives
Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in commercial nuclear power plant operations, maintenance, or engineering
- 5 years of experience writing nuclear power plant procedures, including administrative program procedures
- 2 years of experience as a team lead, supervisor, or manager
- High-level knowledge of nuclear power plant systems and terminology
- Experience interpreting nuclear standards and maintaining procedural and regulatory compliance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience with computer-based or electronic procedures tools
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to procedural excellence
- Self-motivated with ability to develop innovative solutions independently
- High integrity, effective communicator, and team-oriented attitude
- Understanding of how actions impact regulatory compliance and organizational safety
- Ability to adapt to changes in plant design, procedures, and schedules
- Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with software-based procedures or other electronic procedure tools
- Knowledge of INPO, NRC, and other regulatory agency requirements
- Experience working in a nuclear construction or commissioning environment
