Talascend is currently seeking a Nuclear Procedures Manager for a remote, contract opportunity with our client.

Overview

The Nuclear Procedures Manager oversees the development and implementation of administrative and operational procedures for a nuclear power station, leading a team to streamline plant programs and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain procedures supporting operation and maintenance activities at the plant.
  • Lead a team of procedure writers and program owners, providing guidance and ensuring high-quality, risk-minimized procedures.
  • Coordinate activities across departments, project partners, regulators, and external organizations involved in procedure development.
  • Utilize software tools to develop electronic procedures and workflows, supporting review, approval, and document management processes.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline procedures and related programs, implementing process improvements.
  • Ensure procedures comply with NRC regulations, INPO standards, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Incorporate industry insights, regulatory updates, and plant design changes into procedures.
  • Support cross-discipline reviews and maintain records for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Assist in establishing departmental goals and managing project budgets related to procedure development.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in commercial nuclear power plant operations, maintenance, or engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience writing nuclear plant procedures, including 2 years developing administrative procedures.
  • 2+ years in a team lead, supervisory, or managerial role.
  • High-level knowledge of nuclear plant systems and terminology.
  • Experience interpreting nuclear standards and ensuring procedural and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and experience with computer-based procedure tools.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to procedural excellence.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to develop innovative solutions with minimal supervision.
  • High integrity, open communication, and ability to foster teamwork.
  • Understanding of how individual actions impact organizational compliance and safety.
  • Ability to adapt to emergent changes related to plant design, procedures, and schedules.
