Mobile Facility Engineer
Talascend is currently seeking a Mobile Facility Engineer for a contract-to-hire opportunity with our client in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Overview
The maintenance technician will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing various building systems and facilities within a commercial or industrial environment, ensuring safety, functionality, and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled facility inspections and report on conditions such as cleanliness, painting needs, fence repairs, site lighting, landscaping, parking lot condition, signage, and general building defects
- Inspect and maintain vacancies, including trash removal, pressure washing, ceiling tile replacement, restroom cleaning, carpet vacuuming, HVAC temperature setting, window cleaning, and maintaining vacancy standards
- Collect and dispose of trash during inspections and complete property vacancy inspection reports
- Report tenant changes, service requests related to plumbing, electrical, safety, and lighting issues
- Monitor and update work order system, check fire/life safety systems, and operational systems such as emergency generator and fire alarm panels
- Complete special maintenance tasks including painting, locksmith work, and general repairs
- Respond effectively to emergencies during and after working hours
- Comply with safety procedures, identify hazards, and maintain a safe work environment
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, and policies for hazardous materials
- Participate in ongoing safety, technical, and operational training programs and complete required certifications
- Document work performed and materials used, and perform other operational tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in general building repair and maintenance, basic plumbing, and electrical work
- Valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Basic computer skills and ability to use a laptop and iPad
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. and work at heights up to 30 ft.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude and excellent communication skills in English
- Ability to use basic hand tools required for maintenance tasks
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Successful completion of background and motor vehicle record checks
- Knowledge of fire/life safety systems is beneficial
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical training program completion
- Experience with fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems
The shift generally runs Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts starting around 7 am, with on-call availability as needed.
