Talascend is currently seeking an Electrical Troubleshooting Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Warren, Michigan.

Overview

The electrical troubleshooting engineer is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving electrical issues in vehicle systems and components, supporting design, validation, and production readiness within an automotive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting of electrical systems, components, harnesses, modules, and interfaces at the vehicle, bench, and subsystem levels
  • Investigate electrical issues using engineering fundamentals, test equipment, schematics, and diagnostic data
  • Lead or support root cause analysis for electrical failures and performance problems
  • Document findings clearly and communicate technical risks, root causes, and corrective actions to stakeholders
  • Develop, review, and maintain electrical requirements, specifications, and deliverables throughout the program lifecycle
  • Support electrical bench testing and validation activities, including designing test setups and evaluating results
  • Manage engineering deliverables in alignment with program timing and milestones
  • Lead or participate in supplier design reviews and issue detection

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, mechatronics engineering, computer science, or related discipline
  • At least 5-7 years of experience in electrical engineering, product development, validation, or issue resolution in an automotive or similarly complex environment
  • Strong understanding of electrical circuits, interfaces, signal behavior, grounding, and power distribution
  • Demonstrated hands-on troubleshooting capability with electrical systems and hardware
  • Experience performing electrical bench testing and interpreting test results
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and some level of technical writing skills
  • Ability to travel locally as needed to support testing, supplier reviews, builds, or launches

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with automotive electrical exterior lighting architecture and electronic modules
  • Previous experience developing block diagrams and schematics
  • Experience with system validation, launch support, and production issue resolution
  • Experience leading or working directly with suppliers on design, validation, and issue resolution reviews
