Talascend is currently seeking an Electrical Design Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Warren, Michigan.

Overview

The Electrical Design Engineer II will be responsible for executing and contributing to the design and development of electrical wiring, electrical systems, and electronic projects across various industries including automotive and aerospace. The role involves analyzing wire harness topology, supporting vehicle build and validation tests, and utilizing software tools for schematic design and diagnostics.

Responsibilities

  • Design solutions following vehicle requirements with direct engagement of internal and external customers.
  • Follow industry standards to optimize packaging and retention strategies.
  • Maintain the packaging of electrical components in a 3D environment and support design reviews.
  • Create vehicle harness assembly prints using EDS tools such as Mentor Graphics and Zu.
  • Support electrical compatibility reviews and sign-off wire harness prints.
  • Support overall electrical development, bill of materials (BOM) creation, and harness/vehicle build.
  • Develop and maintain documentation such as DFMEA and DVP.
  • Coordinate with program teams, suppliers, and assembly for design responsibilities.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and document vehicle electrical issues using CAN tools, DVM, oscilloscope, or similar equipment.
  • Support test plans and perform analytical circuit functionality tests, inspecting first article assemblies for conformity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical engineering degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in vehicle electrical engineering development.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Electrical design experience utilizing industry standards.
  • Ability to read, understand, and create electrical schematics and core understanding of electrical and electronics fundamentals.
  • Proficiency with test equipment such as oscilloscope and DVM.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
