Talascend is currently seeking an Electrical Harness Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Warren, Michigan.

Overview

This role involves developing and managing wiring harness designs for automotive applications, ensuring integration with vehicle architecture and supporting program development activities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop initial harness parts list and perform complexity studies.
  • Maintain program continuity by understanding requirements, timing, issues, and plans, and manage required changes.
  • Coordinate and manage supplier activities within the engineering factory.
  • Participate in interface tradeoff discussions and resolve system integration issues.
  • Manage cost, quality, mass, and performance metrics for power and signal distribution systems.
  • Support pre-production build events, including physical and virtual builds.
  • Ensure wiring system design, development, and release are aligned with vehicle architecture and quality standards.
  • Lead or support benchmarking, reviews, assessments, and plant launch activities.
  • Perform complex design analysis and develop engineering designs and changes.
  • Define and balance system requirements, and plan and execute test and development programs.
  • Release parts and subsystems for production.
  • Collaborate with program teams and electrical architects on daily tasks and issue resolution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; engineering degree preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in vehicle electrical or wire harness design.
  • Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, wire harness design, and design release processes.
  • Proficiency in 3D packaging and basic design analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
