Automotive Senior Mechanic
Talascend is currently seeking an Automotive Senior Mechanic for a contract opportunity with our client in Allen Park, Michigan.
Overview
The Automotive Senior Mechanic will modify cars and trucks in a prototype environment, performing a wide range of diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance. They will mentor and oversee team members to ensure standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Maintain vehicle functional condition by working off repair orders or leader instructions and conducting inspections.
- Repair mechanical and electrical system malfunctions and replace parts and components.
- Read, interpret, and follow service procedures.
- Train, coach, and mentor team members related to their job responsibilities and serve as a subject matter expert.
- Maintain vehicle records by entering notes, service, and repair orders.
- Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
- Lead daily shop organization and clean-up.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 8 years of work experience as a mechanic
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical assembly and ability to operate shop equipment
- Good attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team and mentor others
- Own tools with rolling toolbox
- Ability to read, comprehend and execute written procedures
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate in automotive technology or related
- State mechanic certification(s)
- Valid driver’s license
- Knowledge of vehicle alignments, air conditioning system repairs, tire machines and balancers
