Propulsion HVAC & Engine Program Manager
Talascend is currently seeking a Propulsion HVAC & Engine Program Manager for a contract opportunity with our client in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
Overview
The Propulsion HVAC & Engine Systems Program Manager is responsible for ensuring global coherence and coordination across modules, platforms, and programs for HVAC and engine systems, while reporting program status and milestones to senior leadership. The role involves managing design modifications, production standards, risk analysis, testing, sourcing, and ensuring compliance with project milestones and budget targets.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and control unit-level activities such as design modifications, packaging issue resolution, and production standards
- Manage product safety and durability studies
- Guarantee process feasibility in collaboration with manufacturing
- Oversee plant readiness to secure budget convergence at and after the contract milestone
- Manage workload deviations and execute escalation processes
- Coordinate unit team participation in development phases and lead hot housing kick-offs
- Support regional sub-system technical leads in technical and design reviews
- Develop responses to vehicle line investigations and control technical solutions for platforms and modules
- Approve design changes and address lessons learned across programs and regions
- Ensure meeting cost, quality, performance, and planning targets, and ensure compliance with internal control system rules
- Manage a team of engineers and oversee development and delivery of systems and components to production
- Participate in and manage projects utilizing methodologies including Agile and Waterfall
- Collaborate with management and other developers to address process or project issues and propose improvements
- Produce design documents for various stakeholder audiences
- Represent the team in technical, project, and management meetings
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in program or project management within automotive or systems engineering
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with design modifications, risk analysis, and project milestone management
- Leadership experience managing technical teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with HVAC and engine systems in automotive applications
- Knowledge of software development life cycles including Agile and Waterfall methodologies
- Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
