Maintenance Mechanic
Talascend is currently seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for a contract opportunity with our client in Lansing, Michigan.
Overview
The Maintenance Mechanic provides electrical and mechanical support for the assigned buildings, performing a wide range of responsibilities including equipment repair, preventive maintenance, and general facility support on a second shift basis.
Responsibilities
- Maintain light bulbs and change ballasts
- Assist the operations team in the maintenance and repair of building and equipment
- Perform general office maintenance, including hanging pictures and installing trays
- Conduct major/minor plumbing repairs
- Complete special tasks such as painting, locksmith work, tenant services requests, cleaning, and general maintenance
- Move furniture, machinery, equipment, and materials as requested
- Assist with repair and maintenance of building equipment
- Comply with policies for storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials
- Attend safety training and maintain a safe work environment
- Maintain records of work performed in an organized manner
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Work requires standing, handling, talking, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting up to 50 pounds regularly, with occasional lifts up to 100 pounds
- Work outdoors and in mechanical/equipment rooms under possibly extreme weather conditions and exposure to moving machinery, noise, fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance or related field
- Ability to perform electrical and mechanical repairs
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with HVAC systems and controls
- Knowledge of plumbing and carpentry
- Experience working outdoors and in high, potentially hazardous environments
The employee must work the 2nd shift, Tuesday through Saturday, from 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm.
