Metal Fabricator
Talascend is currently seeking a Metal Fabricator for a contract opportunity with our client in Torrance, California.
Overview
This role involves setting up and operating various machines to shape and alter sheet metal according to specifications, following blueprints and sketches. It requires manual dexterity and familiarity with tools and equipment used in metal fabrication.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate machines such as drill presses, punch presses, shears, bending rolls, brakes, grinders, and numerical control equipment
- Shape and alter sheet metal according to specifications
- Follow blueprints, rough sketches, or engineer drawings
- Use hand and power tools to shape, smooth, and blend seams in metal
- May set up and operate soldering and welding equipment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-4 years of experience in metal fabrication or related field
- Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a manufacturing environment
- Ability to follow instructions and pre-established guidelines
- Reliance on supervision with limited exercise of independent judgment
