Talascend is currently seeking a Sheet Metal Worker for a contract opportunity with our client in Torrance, California.

Overview

This role involves setting up and operating machines such as drill presses, punch presses, shears, bending rolls, brakes, grinders, and numerical control equipment to shape and alter sheet metal according to specifications. The position requires reading blueprints, sketches, or engineer drawings to accurately shape metal, using hand and power tools, and possibly setting up soldering and welding equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate various metal shaping and cutting machines to produce specified parts.
  • Follow blueprints, sketches, or engineer drawings to shape metal accurately.
  • Use hand and power tools for shaping, smoothing, and seam blending of metal.
  • May operate soldering and welding equipment.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and manage physical tasks involving lifting over 30 pounds and repetitive motions.
  • Work under immediate supervision, following established instructions and guidelines.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-4 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication or a related field.
  • Knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures relevant to metalworking.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.

Shift

The work shift is second shift, with physical demands including lifting exceeding 30 lbs and repetition of tasks involving less weight.
