Talascend is currently seeking a Cost Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Chandler, Arizona.

Overview

This role involves managing cost engineering and cost analysis activities for projects with significant non-routine requirements, requiring a high level of technical expertise. The cost engineer will prepare reconciliations, review trends, and develop project cost control strategies to ensure project success.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, maintain, and monitor project budgets, change management, and cost reports
  • Verify consistency across reports to ensure accuracy and compatibility
  • Prepare and ensure the accuracy of project cash flow and revenue earnings
  • Assist with project audits and ensure accuracy in cost coding of budgets and actuals
  • Perform budget allocations according to standards and procedures
  • Identify trends and support change control processes
  • Prepare cost studies using historical data, statistical analysis, and cost comparisons

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or international equivalent
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in change management, cost trend estimates, and project controls
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interpret technical and non-technical scope impacts
  • Experience in executing, monitoring, and evaluating cost engineering activities
  • Thorough knowledge of financial reporting systems and controller account codes
  • Ability to provide guidance and coaching to junior cost engineers
  • Experience with cost studies, statistical analysis, and cost/quantity comparisons
  • Demonstrated flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and changing priorities
