Talascend is currently seeking an Industrial Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Kansas City, Kansas.

Overview

The main role of an industrial engineer is to design, develop, test, and evaluate integrated systems for managing industrial production processes, focusing on areas such as human work factors, quality control, inventory management, logistics, and cost analysis. This position involves improving productivity by managing people, methods, and technology within a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Review statistical data and product specifications to set quality and reliability objectives.
  • Approve manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and cost analysis systems to promote efficient use of staff and facilities.
  • Recommend improvements for utilization of personnel, materials, and utilities.
  • Develop production and design standards through communication with management and personnel.
  • Create and implement quality control activities to resolve production issues and enhance product reliability.
  • Review and analyze production costs and product design changes.
  • Assess operations, material flow, and organizational structures to assign worker responsibilities.
  • Coordinate with vendors, staff, and management regarding purchases, procedures, and project status.
  • Review manufacturing methods, specifications, and schedules to stay informed on production activities.
  • Lead complex projects that improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to define, prioritize, and execute continuous improvement projects.
  • Provide technical coaching and support to less experienced engineers and team members.
  • Ensure all methods and improvements comply with safety, ergonomic, quality, and labor standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or closely related field.
  • 8-10 years of experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in IE methods such as time study, line balancing, standardized work, and capacity analysis.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects to deliver measurable improvements.
  • Proficiency with industrial engineering tools like time study systems, CAD, and data analysis software.
  • Strong knowledge of ergonomic and safety regulations in process and workstation design.
  • Excellent communication skills for conveying technical information to leadership and teams.
  • Ability to work extensively in manufacturing environments, including long walks, stairs, and PPE usage.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in automotive assembly or complex, mixed-model manufacturing operations.
  • Knowledge of safety, ergonomic, quality, and labor standards.
  • Familiarity with data visualization and layout tools like AutoCAD.

Monday through Friday, 6:30 am to 3:00 pm. There is a chance for overtime next year. The position is expected to last approximately 52 weeks, starting as soon as possible.
