Talascend is currently seeking an AV Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Washington, District Of Columbia.
Overview
The AV Technician supports front-end audiovisual and videoconferencing operations for a government office, ensuring reliable operation of meeting and event technologies across supported spaces. The role involves maintaining the readiness of conference rooms, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, supporting collaboration platforms, and assisting with live events and post-production tasks.
Responsibilities
- Proactively inspect, configure, and maintain AV/VTC equipment in meeting rooms, auditoriums, and multipurpose rooms
- Manage deployment, setup, and relocation of AV/VTC components to support operational and event requirements
- Troubleshoot front-end AV/VTC hardware and software issues and restore services with minimal disruption
- Perform routine readiness checks to ensure monitors, microphones, conference phones, and related room systems remain fully operational
- Provide user-facing support for collaboration tools, including Webex and Microsoft Teams
- Support the production of live events such as town halls and commission meetings, executing live video/audio support activities
- Assist with webcast or streaming operations and coordinate with internal stakeholders and third-party providers
- Perform post-production editing for recorded events and deliver final media outputs
- Conduct training sessions on AV equipment use, develop manuals and user reference materials
- Capture recurring issues and recommend process improvements to enhance service delivery
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Information Technology, Computer Science, or Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years of experience providing front-end AV/VTC support in enterprise or government environments
- Hands-on experience managing, deploying, and troubleshooting AV/VTC equipment
- Demonstrated skills in operating AV/VTC systems, including live broadcasts and post-production editing
- Ability to obtain and maintain SEC Public Trust clearance
- Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting federal agency executive events, hearings, or public-facing broadcast sessions
- AVIXA CTS certification (CTS-I or CTS-D preferred)
- Experience coordinating live captioning and sign-language interpretation support
- Familiarity with ITSM/ticketing workflows (e.g., ServiceNow) and SLA-driven support environments
- Experience with AV refresh, upgrade, and modernization efforts in secured environments
- Proficiency with Dante Level 1 or Level 2 audio transport environments
The work is performed on-site at SEC HQ in Washington, DC, with no telework allowed. Standard work hours are expected, with possible flexible scheduling and occasional surge activities supported as needed.
