Talascend is currently seeking a CNC Operator for a contract opportunity with our client in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Overview
The CNC Operator will play a critical role in manufacturing high-precision aerospace components by setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machining equipment. The role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and quality standards in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor CNC 3-axis milling and turning machines to manufacture precision aerospace components.
- Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
- Perform machining operations including milling, drilling, tapping, boring, reaming, and turning.
- Inspect parts using standard and specialized measuring devices to verify conformance to specifications and quality requirements.
- Troubleshoot machining and tooling issues and make necessary machine adjustments.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and basic machine care to maximize equipment performance and minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate production and quality documentation.
- Follow all safety, quality, and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and operations teams on prototype, development, and production activities.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a CNC or ASM machining environment, or completion of 1,800 hours of vocational machinist training with equivalent machine shop experience.
- Experience setting up and operating CNC 3-axis milling and/or turning machines.
- Knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and manufacturing best practices.
- Experience performing quality inspections using precision measuring instruments and gauges.
- Ability to perform machining operations including milling, drilling, tapping, boring, reaming, and turning.
- Understanding of machine shop safety practices, PPE requirements, and safe operating procedures.
- Ability to lift and move materials as required and work around oils, coolants, and other manufacturing fluids.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
