CNC Programmer
Talascend is currently seeking a CNC Programmer for a contract opportunity with our client in Bangor, Maine.
Overview
The CNC Programmer will support complex manufacturing operations by developing, optimizing, and verifying CNC programs for various machine controls. The role involves programming, troubleshooting, and improving machining processes to ensure high precision and efficiency in a heavy-manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Generate and maintain CNC programs utilizing Mastercam, Siemens NX, Esprit 2000, or other software, including multi-axis milling, turning, and grinding.
- Verify new CNC programs prior to release on the shop floor using Vericut.
- Provide CNC related support to manufacturing engineers and operator training during machine startup and process improvements.
- Support and implement tooling and fixturing requirements for CNC machines.
- Generate and support workstation instructions for CNC-related issues.
- Lead process improvement projects to enhance safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with team members regarding CNC programming and troubleshooting.
- Support daily operator needs for CNC programming and troubleshooting on the shop floor.
- Develop operator standard work, inspection, quality documentation, and establish tooling consumption rates and inventory needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or a high school diploma/GED with at least 2 years of manufacturing or operations experience.
- At least 2 additional years of experience in manufacturing or operations.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and organization.
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability.
- Experience with Lean manufacturing principles.
- Proficiency with Mastercam, Siemens NX, Esprit 2000 CAM software, Inventor, NX, or other 3D modeling software.
- Basic understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Ability to analyze, document, plan, market, and execute programs.
- Established project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience programming and troubleshooting macro-based routines including Fanuc Macro B, Okuma Macros, Renishaw probing macros, and Siemens macros.
- Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment supporting exotic materials and large-scale components weighing up to 50,000 lbs.
- Experience with process discipline and continuous improvement methodologies.
