Talascend is currently seeking a CNC Programmer for a contract opportunity with our client in Greenville, South Carolina.

Overview

This role involves 1st shift CNC programming and shop support/development, with a focus on VTL and 5-axis mill (3+2 & 5-simultaneous) programming for large equipment up to 2.5 meters. The position requires generating and maintaining CNC programs, supporting process development, and providing technical support on the shop floor.

Responsibilities

  • Program, process development, and shop support for large VTL, VBM, gantry 5-axis, and multi-purpose turn/grind machines
  • Create and verify CNC programs utilizing NX-CAM or other software, including multi-axis milling, turning, grinding, and EDM
  • Utilize Vericut to verify new CNC programs prior to shop floor deployment
  • Incorporate on-machine probing using Renishaw cycles for part and process validation, including error trapping
  • Create programs following standards and qualified machining parameters
  • Provide CNC related support to manufacturing engineers and operator training during machine startup or process improvements
  • Support daily operator needs with programming and troubleshooting support on the shop floor
  • Support tooling and fixturing requirements for CNC machines
  • Generate and support workstation instructions for CNC issues
  • Lead process improvement projects to enhance safety, quality, cost, and delivery
  • Communicate effectively with team members and work in a fast-paced, team-based environment

Qualifications

  • 4 years of experience with graphical-based CAM systems for CNC programming
  • Siemens NX CAM experience preferred
  • Hands-on machining experience, capable of setting up and proving complex programs
  • Experience managing tight tolerances on large-format equipment (up to 2.5 meters)
  • Extensive experience machining nickel-based superalloys such as Inconel, Rene, Hastelloy
  • Strong problem-solving and organization skills, with shop math skills in geometry and trigonometry
  • Experience using Vericut or similar verification software
  • Familiarity with multiple machine controls including Fanuc, Haas, Okuma, and Siemens
  • Ability to interpret drawing requirements and manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education
