Overview
This role involves designing and optimizing high-efficiency CNC programs for complex multi-axis machining processes, particularly working with high-temperature superalloys. The engineer will utilize advanced digital twin and simulation software to ensure optimal performance and process stability on high-end manufacturing equipment.
Responsibilities
- Design and optimize high-efficiency CNC programs for complex multi-axis setups, including cutting high-temperature superalloys such as Inconel and Rene.
- Use digital twin software (Vericut) to validate code and optimize toolpaths in a virtual environment prior to production.
- Develop adaptive probing routines, macro programming, and closed-loop machining processes to ensure smooth and predictable operations.
- Partner with manufacturing engineers and shop-floor teams to commission new multi-million-dollar machine tools and establish machining standards.
- Act as a technical mentor and collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot setups, validate first-piece components, and share knowledge.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of experience with offline programming in a CAM system.
- Demonstrated experience programming 4 and 5-axis continuous milling, large VTLs, or multi-axis grinding systems using graphical CAM software (Siemens NX strongly preferred).
- Experience machining high-temperature alloys or heavy structural parts.
- Familiarity with modern controls such as Siemens Sinumerik, Fanuc, Okuma, or Haas.
- Experience with on-machine probing, including Renishaw macros.
- Educational background and/or experience related to machining or manufacturing engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with digital twin and virtual prototyping software such as Vericut.
- Experience working with high-temperature superalloys and exotic materials.
- Strong safety and quality mindset with pride in craftsmanship.
