Talascend is currently seeking a Calibration System Integration Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
Overview
The Calibration System Integration Engineer is responsible for leading the commissioning, integration, and testing of calibration development resources. This includes virtual/hardware-in-the-loop test setups, physical system dynamometer resources, and full vehicle testing, supporting system-level propulsion strategies and validation activities.
Responsibilities
- System and cross feature calibration and validation, such as drive modes, system SOC management, range estimation, EOL, HMI, etc.
- First run support for HIL, dyno, and vehicle properties
- Lead validation of PCR package, identifying hardware, software, and calibration deficiencies prior to hard release
- Support FE/emissions testing, including dyno support, data review, issue and vehicle triage
- Lead development trips to support calibration development and meet program milestones
- Summarize data from trips, daily drives, and fleet activities to support calibration maturity
- Schedule and coordinate AVL drive testing, triage, and process improvements
- Support resolution of issues through GIMs, IMS, etc.
- Collaborate with powertrain controls team to ensure features are working effectively
- Provide training to new calibration engineers and others needing operational instruction on propulsion vehicles and controls
- Support environmental test trips and reporting activities for senior management
- Work with centers of excellence to follow best practices and serve as the primary contact for system issues within their functional area
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- Automotive experience, including university projects such as Formula SAE, Baja, or SAE EcoCar
- Good oral and written communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- High level of analytical ability and creativity
- Ability to manage multiple issues effectively
- Disciplined test planning and verification skills to ensure quality calibrations
- Strong knowledge of powertrain systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of control system development tools such as Matlab and Simulink
- Proficiency with calibration tools INCA, MDA, PowerCal, CRETA, CANalyzer, and CANoe
- Minimum of 2 years calibration experience in electrification applications
- Experience in powertrain control solutions development (powertrain control algorithms, OBD, embedded software)
- Knowledge of eMachines, power electronics, and electrification power flow
- Experience in engine/transmission design, development, or powertrain systems engineering
- Master's degree in engineering
