Talascend is currently seeking a UX/UI Designer for a contract opportunity with our client in Houston, Texas.
Overview
The UX/UI Designer will develop user experiences for artificial intelligence, generative AI, agentic AI, and digital solutions within the energy sector. The role involves partnering with various stakeholders to translate complex workflows into intuitive, accessible digital experiences that drive user adoption and deliver business value.
Responsibilities
- Conduct human-centered design activities for AI initiatives, including stakeholder interviews, observation sessions, and discovery workshops to understand business objectives, user needs, current workflows, pain points, exceptions, and adoption barriers.
- Create information architecture, user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes using Figma or comparable tools.
- Design responsive experiences for AI assistants, copilots, agentic workflows, enterprise web applications, operational dashboards, and mobile scenarios, including navigation, interaction patterns, notifications, exception handling, and feedback mechanisms.
- Design conversational experiences, prompt interactions, review-and-approval flows, and AI-generated content experiences.
- Help users understand AI recommendations, sources, confidence, limitations, and necessary human decisions, ensuring responsible oversight, transparency, and trust.
- Establish and maintain reusable patterns, components, templates, and design guidance to promote consistency across products, applying accessibility, responsive, and inclusive design practices.
- Plan and conduct usability testing, prototype reviews, and user feedback sessions to validate and improve experiences.
- Support demonstrations, user enablement, and change-management activities to promote adoption of new AI solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience Design, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Five or more years of professional UX/UI design experience, preferably with enterprise software or complex workflow-based applications.
- Portfolio demonstrating user research, journey mapping, interaction design, prototyping, visual design, and measurable outcomes.
- Proficiency with Figma, Sketch, or comparable design tools.
- Experience collaborating with Agile product, engineering, data, and business teams.
- Knowledge of responsive design, design systems, accessibility standards, and usability testing.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
