Talascend is currently seeking an Electrician for a contract opportunity with our client in Romulus, Michigan.
Overview
The electrician will oversee the daily operation of the campus electrical power and lighting systems, ensuring proper maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment. The role involves working with building infrastructure and responding to operational and emergency situations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of facility electrical power and lighting systems.
- Assist with maintenance, monitoring, and performance of preventive maintenance on electrical, HVAC, emergency backup, and hot water systems.
- Analyze the operation of various systems, identify malfunctions, and take corrective action.
- Support other mechanics and operators with major repairs and maintenance of building systems.
- Install, repair, and maintain electrical controls, switching, and motor controls.
- Monitor operation, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment, recording readings and reporting issues.
- Ensure safety procedures for hazardous materials are followed and maintain a clean and safe workplace.
- Perform general maintenance and support duties as needed.
- Manage the operation, repair, and maintenance of building electrical and lighting systems, including new installations and PMs.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on electrical, life safety, and fire alarm systems.
- Respond to operational and emergency situations, with a solid understanding of NFPA-70E standards.
- Perform troubleshooting and corrective actions on malfunctioning equipment.
- Assist with maintenance of heating, cooling, and water systems, including boilers, pumps, valves, and piping.
- Prioritize work orders and maintain inventory of tools and supplies.
- Complete required safety training and ensure compliance with environmental health and safety standards.
- Recommends repairs and improvements for facilities budgeting purposes.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school diploma.
- Familiarity with BMS and CMMS systems.
- Proficiency in basic computer software such as MS Office and Outlook.
- Ability to operate electric hand tools, work on ladders, and lift heavy loads.
- Ability to work in close spaces and on roofs.
- Prior safety training such as NFPA-70e and OSHA-10.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Electrical license.
- Hold a trade license.
