Talascend is currently seeking an Automotive Body Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Allen Park, Michigan.

Overview

The Automotive Body & Paint Technician II is responsible for performing auto body and paint support for programs, including surface and paint of prototype components and vehicles. The role involves independent project tasks and collaboration with customers and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Surface and paint prototype components and vehicles.
  • Maintain vehicle records by entering notes, service, and repair orders.
  • Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
  • Participate in daily shop organization and clean-up.
  • Pay close attention to details and procedures to maintain high quality standards for painted parts.
  • Read hazard labels and other required information.
  • Distinguish colors.
  • Read, understand, and comply with safety rules and regulations.
  • Operate industrial pneumatic equipment (openers, crushers, mixers, etc).
  • Operate manual and power tools (drills, hammers, screwdrivers, ratchets, wrenches, etc).

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in the auto body field.
  • Ability to operate shop equipment.
  • Good attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and execute written procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate in Automotive Body Repair or related.
  • Experience surfacing panels.
  • Show car painting experience.
  • Gap and Margin experience with automotive panels for Show Car quality.
  • Body shop ability for detail panel surfacing.
  • Show car painting experience.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed including weekends.
