Talascend is currently seeking a Process Safety Management Specialist for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Calvert, Alabama.

Overview

This role involves leading and coordinating process safety management activities to support and improve the company’s safety performance and compliance. The specialist provides technical guidance and collaborates with various teams to foster a safety-oriented culture.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation, administration, and ongoing improvement of the site’s process safety management program.
  • Coordinate process hazard analyses, HAZOPs, LOPAs, What-If reviews, and management of change activities.
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements, standards, and best practices.
  • Lead or facilitate process safety incident investigations and root cause analyses.
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, reliability, and EHS teams to manage process safety risks and equipment performance.
  • Develop, maintain, and report process safety performance metrics and action items.
  • Coordinate safety awareness, training, emergency preparedness, and culture initiatives.
  • Demonstrate safety and teamwork values, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Foster a safety culture aligned with company values of safety, teamwork, accountability, relationships, and sustainability.
  • Ensure understanding and compliance with relevant ISO and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial technology, safety, reliability, operations management, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, reliability, operations, or process safety.
  • Strong knowledge of process safety management principles, risk-based decision making, OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, CCPS frameworks.
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills with proficiency in data analysis and process improvement tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to make effective decisions through analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across functions, build partnerships, and influence without authority.
  • Effective communication skills capable of engaging employees at all levels.
  • Strong leadership and facilitation skills.
  • Self-motivated with excellent organization, prioritization, and project coordination skills.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and fostering a process safety culture.
