Talascend is currently seeking an Instrumentation Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Dearborn, Michigan.
Overview
The Instrumentation Technician I will be responsible for installing, testing, calibrating, and maintaining instrumentation systems in development vehicles. This includes building wiring harnesses, installing sensors, and collaborating with team members and customers to ensure instrumentation requirements are met.
Responsibilities
- Build and install low voltage automotive and instrumentation wiring harnesses, auxiliary battery, and electrical systems.
- Install, adjust, and calibrate sensors, shunts, fiber optics, accelerometers, and data acquisition systems.
- Collaborate with customers, fabricators, and mechanics to identify sensor installation locations according to requirements.
- Assist in performing functional inspections and verify instrumentation according to quality standards.
- Diagnose and repair faulty wiring systems.
- Work with electronic tools such as power supplies, function generators, and multimeters.
- Maintain records of repair requests and service notes.
- Follow shop procedures, troubleshoot breakdowns, and perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Participate in daily shop organization and clean-up activities.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 6 months to 1 year of previous experience
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate in automotive technology or related field
- National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification(s)
- State mechanic certification(s)
- Experience with soldering, crimping, tube bending, and component layout on vehicles or subsystems
- Knowledge of proper installation of thermocouples and pressure transducers
Shift: Overtime may be required, including weekends.
