Talascend is currently seeking a Laboratory Equipment Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Broomfield, Colorado.
Overview
This role involves independently performing electrical and mechanical assembly of laboratory systems, troubleshooting, and maintaining laboratory equipment, with opportunities to collaborate with engineers and scientists on various projects.
Responsibilities
- Independently perform electrical and mechanical assembly of prototype systems and processes
- Assist senior technicians, engineers, and scientists in executing project milestones and deliverables
- Assist in documentation of existing systems and processes
- Perform general lab maintenance and participate in 5S organization activities
- Configure laboratory test systems using CF, KF, NPT, and VCR fittings for vacuum and gas-handling setups
- Wire assemblies and create test cables
- Troubleshoot problems or perform routine maintenance on equipment such as compressors, vacuum pumps, and gauges
- Operate and troubleshoot cryogenic and electromagnetic equipment with a strong safety mindset
Qualifications
- High school degree or equivalent
- 4-6 years of experience in the field
- Experience configuring laboratory test systems using CF, KF, NPT, and VCR fittings for vacuum and gas-handling setups
- Proficiency with equipment such as multimeters, signal generators, oscilloscopes, Lakeshores (temperature measurement), vacuum pumps, and vacuum gauges
- Ability to troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and be self-motivated
- Strong safety awareness and documentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to perform duties through relevant experience, training, or education
