Talascend is currently seeking an Installation Engineering Lead for a contract opportunity with our client in Houston, Texas.

Overview

The Lead Installation Engineer holds overall responsibility for installation engineering activities within projects, tenders, and studies, ensuring project requirements are met through technical excellence and leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee safety, quality, delivery, and cost aspects of installation engineering activities.
  • Foster a safety, quality, and security culture across all project phases by leading by example.
  • Lead installation engineering tendering and FEED activities, including review and preparation of tender deliverables.
  • Interpret and manage main contract requirements, variations, and client interfaces for technical input and clarifications.
  • Manage installation engineering schedule and coordinate with planners for schedule updates.
  • Coordinate engineering and operational reviews, providing technical oversight for installability and methodologies.
  • Support procurement processes related to installation activities.
  • Appoint resources for RFQ/ITB technical input and bid evaluation reviews.
  • Assist with team development through training, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Provide on-site supervision and technical expertise during manufacturing, fabrication, and offshore installation activities.
  • Represent the project team offshore, preparing documentation such as lift plans, dive/task plans, and MOCs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree or equivalent in relevant engineering discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in offshore installation engineering.
  • Multidisciplinary project experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of subsea umbilicals, risers, flowlines (SURF), subsea production systems (SPS), and vessel operations.
  • In-depth understanding of industry codes and standards (e.g., DNV-ST-N001).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Projects).
  • Experience managing multiple or complex work packages.
  • Skilled in risk assessment, mitigation management, and management of change.
