Talascend is currently seeking a Logistics Proposal Specialist for a remote, contract opportunity with our client.
Overview
The Logistics Proposal Specialist supports the Inquiry-to-Order organization by developing logistics strategies, transportation concepts, and cost estimates during the proposal and bidding phase of projects. They prepare budgetary logistics solutions, evaluate transportation feasibility, identify risks, and support proposal development to ensure competitive and executable logistics offerings.
Responsibilities
- Support logistics activities during the inquiry-to-order phase for domestic and international projects
- Assist in developing logistics content for customer proposals, tenders, and RFQ responses
- Participate in bid review meetings and customer clarification discussions
- Prepare logistics scope narratives, assumptions, exclusions, and qualifications
- Develop preliminary transportation concepts for various shipment types
- Prepare budgetary transportation estimates using market intelligence and carrier quotations
- Coordinate pricing with freight forwarders, carriers, ports, and service providers
- Support feasibility studies, route assessments, and logistics planning
- Develop preliminary logistics schedules and milestones
- Identify logistics risks, constraints, and permitting requirements
- Review shipping drawings and equipment dimensions for transportation assumptions
- Document logistics assumptions and commercial qualifications for proposals
- Support value engineering initiatives and cost-saving opportunities
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, project management, and commercial teams
- Support evaluation of Incoterms, delivery strategies, and customer logistics requirements
- Ensure proper documentation of logistics assumptions and schedules for project handoff
- Participate in transition meetings to ensure seamless transfer of logistics information
- Maintain budgetary pricing databases and logistics estimating tools
- Support development of standard templates, checklists, and planning tools
- Document lessons learned and promote process standardization and improvements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, transportation, business, engineering, or related discipline
- 5 years of experience in logistics, transportation, freight forwarding, supply chain, or project logistics
- Experience supporting transportation planning, freight estimating, or proposal development
- Understanding of domestic and international transportation modes and logistics operations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting capital equipment, energy, industrial, or infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of heavy haul, oversized cargo, breakbulk, rail, ocean freight, and project logistics
- Familiarity with Incoterms, import/export documentation, customs processes, and international shipping
- Experience reviewing engineering drawings, packing lists, and shipment specifications
- Knowledge of logistics cost estimating and commercial proposal development
