Talascend is currently seeking a HVAC Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Overview
The HVAC Technician is a vital technical specialist responsible for maintaining and repairing all HVAC systems, mechanical equipment, and facility infrastructure at the Indianapolis location. This hands-on role involves preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, and system diagnostics to ensure optimal performance of building systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform ongoing preventive maintenance and respond to repair work orders on facility mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems to ensure continuous operation
- Maintain, operate, and repair all HVAC systems and associated equipment including packaged units, chillers, boilers, air handlers, and related building components
- Monitor and operate building automation systems (BAS), fire/life safety systems, and other building-related equipment to optimize performance and identify issues
- Conduct assigned facility inspections and due diligence assessments, reporting on conditions that impact client occupancy and operations
- Troubleshoot and diagnose complex HVAC system issues, electrical distribution problems, and plumbing malfunctions using technical knowledge and diagnostic tools
- Perform building interior/exterior repairs, grounds maintenance, and production equipment servicing as it pertains to assigned facilities
- Work from heights, climb ladders up to 30 feet, and perform tasks in adverse conditions (extreme temperatures) while adhering to safety protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent; technical training or degree in HVAC, mechanical systems, or related field
- Universal EPA/CFC license (required for refrigerant handling)
- Minimum four (4) years of technical experience in building engineering with strong background in packaged HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and equipment repair and maintenance
- Knowledge of overall HVAC system design, applications, and building automation systems
- Physical capability to lift up to 80 lbs., climb ladders (300 lb. weight limit) while carrying tool bag (~20 lbs.), and work overhead with frequent bending, kneeling, and stooping
- Ability to work 2nd shift schedule (Monday-Friday) with occasional weekend work as needed
- Valid driver's license with ability to drive for extended periods
- Experience with specific building automation systems (e.g., Tridium, Johnson Controls, Siemens)
- Knowledge of fire/life safety systems and code compliance requirements
- Familiarity with production equipment maintenance in industrial or manufacturing environments
- OSHA safety certifications (OSHA 10 or OSHA 30)
- Experience working in pharmaceutical, healthcare, or mission-critical facility environments
The shift for this role is 2nd shift, Monday through Friday, 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with potential on-call duties for weekends.
