Talascend is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Houston, Texas.
Overview
This role involves conducting field investigations, leading design and development of mechanical components, and ensuring complex project requirements are met within the cleanrooms and HVAC systems sector. The position requires technical expertise and coordination across various engineering disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of engineering work in mechanical discipline for projects or staff groups
- Perform work involving conventional engineering practices, resolving complex design requirements and coordination challenges
- Use client Standard Application Programs (SAPs) to support engineering efforts
- Prepare equipment or work specifications, material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and award recommendations
- Coordinate engineering efforts between different groups, the client, suppliers, and contractors
- Lead technical tasks and communicate complex issues to project management
- Support development of engineering procedures, design guides, and administrative practices
- Mentor designers and drafters to foster professional growth
- Promote an environment of openness, trust, and teamwork within the work group
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent from an accredited university or college
- 10-13 years of relevant experience, specifically in dry systems
- Good working knowledge of international standards for cleanrooms and controlled environments (ISO 14644-1 to 14), IEST-RP-CC001, 002, 006, 007, 012, 021, 034, ASHRAE, SMACNA, and IMC standards for HVAC and air handling units
- Knowledge of equipment packages such as air handling systems, air condensing units, variable air volume units, and cleanroom recirculation air and exhaust systems
- Ability to troubleshoot issues confidently in field or job site settings
- Demonstrated ability to manage conflicting deadlines and multitask effectively
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with systems calculations, plant layout, and project deliverables development
- Thorough understanding of engineering techniques and design within the discipline
- Knowledge of construction practices and project economics
This is a full-time, on-site role located in Houston, Texas, which may require some in-person attendance at the office or project site as needed.
