Talascend is currently seeking an Operating Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Cleveland, Ohio.
Overview
The role involves operating building systems via BAS and FAS, managing chiller plant operations, troubleshooting electrical issues, and maintaining all base building and critical system machinery. The position requires responding to work orders and assisting with daily building operations.
Responsibilities
- Operate building systems via BAS and FAS
- Manage chiller plant operation
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems
- Perform repair, maintenance, and installation of equipment and facilities
- Respond to work orders and assist with daily building operation
- Conduct preventative maintenance with minimal disruption to building services
- Order parts and equipment as needed
- Complete monthly safety training
- Maintain inventory of tools and supplies
- Ensure safe storage, use, and disposal of hazardous materials
- Keep work area clean and safe
- Prepare and submit supplies for periodic checks, including plumbing and electrical supplies
- Perform all other assigned duties and tasks
Qualifications
- High school diploma required
- Two years of trades schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration, and HVAC
- Four years of experience in facility/plant engineering maintenance
- Experience as a journeyman level engineer with skills in building automation systems, life safety systems, and Microsoft Office applications
- Exposure to HVAC, fluid handling/pumping, fluid filtering, mechanical systems, welding, and electrical systems engineering and operation
- Proficiency in basic computer software such as MS Office, Lotus, and email
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to interact effectively with all organizational levels, contractors, architects, and engineers
- Boilers license preferred
- Universal HVAC license
