Talascend is currently seeking a Building Maintenance Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Overview
The Building Maintenance Technician is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, monitoring, and preventive care of essential building systems to ensure safety, efficiency, and reliability. The role involves hands-on technical work across various mechanical and technical systems to maintain high standards of facility performance and safety compliance.
Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on maintenance, monitoring, and minor repairs to mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems
- Conduct preventive maintenance on building equipment including cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and changing parts
- Record equipment readings and make necessary adjustments for proper system operation
- Review monthly client service request summaries to proactively identify recurrent operational issues
- Monitor and evaluate the quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors and vendors
- Maintain responsibility for facility services, including preventive maintenance schedules and contracted maintenance coordination
- Comply with departmental policies for safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials while maintaining a clean and safe workplace environment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the building maintenance industry
- Working knowledge and proficiency with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, instructions, manuals, diagrams, and schedules
- Ability to work in less-than-ideal working conditions as required by maintenance and repair activities
- Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education
