Talascend is currently seeking a Building Maintenance Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Overview
This role involves operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment across all building systems. The technician will focus on technical expertise in one craft area while being multi-skilled in others to ensure smooth daily operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, monitor repairs, and troubleshoot systems including Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Fire, and Life Safety
- Maintain responsibility for preventative maintenance, purchasing, inventory control, contracted maintenance, and general upkeep
- Maintain HVAC and related equipment through cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and replacing parts to ensure optimum performance
- Record readings and adjust equipment to ensure proper operation
- Follow departmental policies for hazardous material handling and maintain a clean, safe workplace
- Perform periodic checks of tools and inventory
- Monitor the quality and cost of external maintenance work
- Work physically demanding tasks which may involve bending, kneeling, squatting, standing, reaching, and laying, often exposed to outdoor elements or hazardous materials
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 2-4 years' experience maintaining and repairing commercial building systems
- EPA 608 Universal Certification
- Ability to analyze and troubleshoot Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and HVAC systems
- Computer literacy for record-keeping and work order management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to work independently and provide excellent customer service
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in commercial property or corporate office settings
- Trade school training in electrical systems, refrigeration, and HVAC
- Knowledge of office furniture installation and repair
- Experience in roofing repairs
- Locksmith skills and familiarity with door hardware systems
