Talascend is currently seeking a Database Engineer for a contract opportunity with our client in Richardson, Texas.

Overview

This role involves supporting the design, deployment, and operation of advanced database solutions in a semiconductor manufacturing environment. The candidate will play a key role in migrating legacy reporting systems to modern data architectures and supporting AI-driven automation initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Support on-premises databases related to equipment, process, and enterprise applications.
  • Develop and deploy high-availability database solutions using MS SQL for manufacturing functions including MES, SCADA, and Historian.
  • Support additional database technologies such as Oracle and DB2.
  • Migrate legacy reporting solutions to data marts and data warehouse models.
  • Design and implement advanced SQL procedures, views, and dynamic reports using SSRS and Power BI.
  • Manage database architecture, user access, security, and documentation processes.
  • Mentor team members on best practices for database queries and usage.
  • Troubleshoot performance issues related to virtualized and physical database workloads.
  • Participate in migration of workloads to virtualized environments and support new technology adoption.
  • Collaborate with semiconductor process, equipment, and application vendors to optimize database performance and fault tolerance.
  • Ensure continuous database monitoring and security compliance.
  • Engage in troubleshooting and addressing application and database issues impacting operations.
  • Coordinate with site and corporate teams for ongoing support and improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with MS SQL.
  • 5+ years of experience with database tuning.
  • 5+ years of experience with SQL Server Management Studio.
  • 2+ years of experience with PowerShell scripting.
  • 1+ years of experience with ServiceNow or similar platform.
  • Experience in data modeling, database design, and application integrated database engineering.
  • Proficiency in advanced SQL development, data architecture, governance, and performance-driven design.
  • Experience supporting and building solutions in manufacturing environments, especially in semiconductor settings.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and self-motivate in a fast-paced setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
